General
What’s the difference between the Wringer Pro, Sport, and Go?
All Wringer models use friction as the source of resistance and all provide a full range of adjustment. The Wringer Pro is made almost entirely from solid, machined aluminium, with a knurled finish for grip. Using the blue adjustment dial you can go from 1 to 11 in one turn. The Wringer Sport is made from PVC and has silicone rubber bands for a softer grip. To adjust it you have to keep twisting - clockwise to tighten, ant-clockwise to loosen. To go from 1 to 11 takes approximately 30 turns. The Go is super lightweight, 3D printed and just like the Pro has an adjustment dial on one end to quickly adjust the resistance.
How long will my wringer last?
Your wringer should give you many years service. It's best to keep it out of extreme conditions for long periods, such as very wet/damp, hot or cold. We also suggest adjusting to a low setting after use to avoid premature wear.
Can I adjust the resistance?
Wringer Pro
Yes, simply turn the blue dial. The bigger the number the greater the resistance.
Wringer Sport
Yes, simply twist your wringer to increase or decrease the resistance.
Wringer Go
Yes, simply twist the end dial a couple of times to increase or decrease the resistance.
How often should I use my wringer?
You can use your wringer as often as you want, although we recommend doing one session each day.
Will using a wringer make my forearms bigger?
It depends on how you use it. If you go for fewer, more intense repetitions then yes, it will make your forearm muscles bigger. If you go for more repetitions at a lower setting you may see little or no change in size - just an increase in strength and stamina.
How long should I rest between sets?
Really it's up to you. We recommend keeping rest between your sets to around 30secs. This gives enough time for your body to recover but not so long that your muscles start cooling down again.
My forearms hurt after using my wringer. Is this normal?
If the pain is in your muscles then yes, this is normal and is a sign your forearm muscles are being exercised. If the pain is in your joints (wrist, elbow, knuckles etc) then you may be overdoing it and need to simply reduce how often you use the wringer. If in doubt consult a physiotherapist or doctor.
Can I use the Wringer for rehabilitation after an injury?
Yes, although we recommend you speak to a doctor or physiotherapist first as each case is different. Generally speaking, you can start on a very low setting and gradually work your way up.
How much resistance does the wringer give in pounds/kg?
The range of resistance the wringer provides is equivalent to using a traditional wrist roller device with between 0.5kg to 50kg (1lb to 110lbs) hanging from the cord. So using your wringer at around 50% setting is like a wrist roller with 20kg (44lbs) hanging from the cord.
Ultimately it's just a number and it's still best to go with what feels good to you. So simply tighten your wringer up to a point where you feel you're getting a good workout.
Maintenance
Do I need to lubricate/oil my wringer?
No. All Wringer models are designed to run dry with no wet lubricant.
How do I replace the friction washer on the Wringer Pro, Sport, and Go?
All our Wringer models requires almost zero maintenance. The only part that can realistically wear out is the friction washer in the centre of your Wringer. If needed you can replace it by following these steps:
Wringer Pro
- Remove the end pointer by simply twisting and pulling. It will just slide off.
- Remove the adjustment dial by turning anti-clockwise until it comes off.
- Now slide the handle off to expose the felt friction washer.
- Replace the 2 felt washers with new ones.
- Slide the handle back on.
- Refit the blue adjustment dial followed by the end pointer.
NOTE: There is no hard setting when fitting the end pointer. We suggest tightening the blue adjustment dial until the resistance is what feels like level 4 for you. Then move the pointer around to point at 4. You can now use your Wringer as before.
Wringer Sport
- Twist the grips anti-clockwise to decrease the resistance and keep twisting until the two halves come apart.
- Remove the spring. You should now see the felt washer on one side.
- Remove the old felt washer, put a new one in and repeat the steps above in reverse order.
Wringer Go
- Hold the adjustment dial steady in one hand while you twist the opposite handle (the one with GO on the side) so it loosens up and eventually comes off.
- You should now have access the felt washer.
- Remove the old felt washer, put a new one in and repeat the steps above in reverse order.
